At Kinetic Martial Arts, we don’t just talk about teaching our kids discipline, assertiveness & respect, we have drills and exercises that we practice in class that develop these traits!

The kids classes at Kinetic Martial Arts are dedicated to making your child happier, healthier and more successful in life.

The classes give children a fun and disciplined way to exercise, develop self-respect, self-control, respect for others, and social and physical skills that they will be able to use through to their adult lives. This is one of the best opportunities you can give your child as they are growing up.

The classes are taught in a safe and gently challenging environment, with a specialised children's syllabus that teaches the basics of martial arts (with elements of Hapkido, Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)) which can be built upon as children age.

Our school rules provide the framework for teaching your child the values and morals that our school has become well known for. Our school rules are:

In our classes, kids will practice both non-physical and physical ways of avoiding negative situations and keeping control of the environment around them.

The class structure allows children to progress according to their age, ability and dedication, with gradings (i.e. exams) providing a useful tool for them to begin goal setting and focusing on self-improvement.

Our instructors are selected to be role models for our children. They have all attended instructor's courses for teaching kids and are regularly assessed and provided with further training, to ensure that your child is always getting the best.

Kids classes are offered according to age group. Each group has their own curriculum to ensure their own safety and the safety of others. Each age group’s curriculum flows onto the next age group’s curriculum without repetition and becomes increasing challenging.

Finches (3.5 - 5 years)

This class develops strength, co-ordination and gross motor skills. This class also concentrates on giving each child lots of encouragement and positive feedback when they meet their accomplishments. All this works to provide children with a great deal more confidence to try new things and to strive towards their achievements. Where parents feel comfortable, we also get them involved in the class.

Whilst based on Hapkido, the techniques being taught are basic martial arts techniques, perfect to set the foundation for any later training whether they choose to continue with Hapkido or venture out into Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu etc.

Eagles (6 - 8 years)

In this class the key focus is fun and discipline. Children will be introduced to different techniques derived from authentic martial arts, but altered slightly to make them safer and more accessible to children's training. Children in this class will be introduced to short-term goals and how they can work towards medium-term goals.

Condors (9 - 12 years)

In this class children will be trained with the same drills and techniques as the adults class, but with a lot more enthusiasm and motivation by the instructors! This class will develop their fitness and strength, and provides a bridge for kids to move into the adult's class. In this class we talk about lots of different life habits to set all our kids up with good habits as they start to make their own decisions.

School Holidays

At Kinetic Martial Arts, we train all year round, including all school holidays.

In fact, during the school holidays we have extra training, called "Hwarang" days, that the kids can do.

Hwarang training is run from 9am to 3pm. During the day we’ll do no less than 5 hours of real training. We have breaks for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, and all food is provided. We use these days as an opportunity to perfect technique and get some serious fitness work in.

Kid's Night

a.k.a. "Kids Stay, Parents go out and Play" nights

Each school term we hold a Kid's Night which is a great way for our kids to come together to have some fun out of normal hours … and as a side, parents get to go out for the night! Our Kids Nights are held at our Cronulla Dojang, where there are lots of things for parents to do.

Kids will train, have dinner, train some more and chill out together … whilst our parents get a choice of local cafes, restaurants, cinema, bars, pubs etc. And again, we mean some serious training for our kids.
